Hello all, I know its a couple of days late, but I wanted to compile some of the most memorable moments from the latest album cycle for the one year anniversary.
TBHC has had one hell of a journey in just a year, from becoming the UK's fastest selling vinyl album since 1993^\1]), to being nominated for the group's 4th and 5th Grammy Awards. So, let's start at the beginning, shall we?

Sometime around late September of 2017, our good pal Yellamo gave word for the first time in over four years that the band were working on new material.^\2]) In an interview for motorcycle magazine For The Ride, Nick said, "Our goal is to release the album next year because if we don’t, we’ve got problems."
After this, basically radio silence from the boys. I mean, they were keeping this thing as tightly under raps as possible. Occasionally we'd get an instagram picture here or there showing one of the boys, like this infamous picture (p.c. samcarguillo) of Alex with his new goatee back in July of 2017, but mostly nothing.
Fast forward to January 29th of 2018. The Arctic Monkeys account on Instagram posted this. This post not only gave us the first glimpse at the possible art direction this album would take, but it also gave us an extremely rough guess of when we could be getting the record. We could surmise that the album would likely be out before any of the festival dates, seeing as the first shows in four years would almost certainly feature new material.
On March 4th and March 12th, we got confirmation on European and North American headlining dates, respectively.^\3])^\4]) Now by this point, the hype start to really gain traction, as we could all feel the album was coming ever closer. Early to mid May was most people's prediction, considering the dates of the shows. Then, again, silence for another month.
Then, on April 5th, the boys released this absolutely legendary teaser. I remember getting a clear Kubrick vibe from this teaser. Like 60s retro-futuristic. Excitement and hype grew to an all-time high. One of the most anticipated albums of the decade was coming on May 11th, 2018. After nearly 5 years, the Arctic Monkeys were back. A little over a month to go.
After the teaser, we'd get the occasional television spot or bus ad, but no lead single before the record, which was... odd. We did get the tracklisting though, with names like The World's First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip and The Ultracheese being standouts. Here are a few of the early images we got of the boys for the record: one, two, three.
May 5th rolls around, the first Arctic Monkeys performance in 4 years. The boys performed at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA. Here, we got the debut of Four Out Of Five, live or otherwise. For the next six days, unless you listened to the album when it leaked, all we got was these cell phone videos of the new songs. It was a little hard to hear and piece together their exact sound, but from what we can tell, this was, well, different. Eventually, as I said, the album would leak, as well as the lyrics for the songs.
On May 11th 2018, Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino released worldwide. Finally, after nearly 5 years, the Arctic Monkeys were back with a brand new record. I remember sitting in my room, anxiously waiting for 11pm on May 10th (I'm in US central time). As soon as the clock struck 11:00 I fired open Spotify, put on some headphones, turned out the lights and took the journey up to the TBHC for the first time in probably a hundred. To be honest, I didn't know how I felt after the final "oouuuuhooooo" in the Ultracheese. I wanted so much to love it immediately on first listen. But of all the things I was expecting, that really wasn't it. The next day, I took to the internet and reddit to see what everyone else was saying about it. Of course, a bunch of hot takes were floating around, from "absolute garbage" to "masterpiece", both of which I found silly to proclaim not even 12 hours post release.
The professional reviews were mostly positive though, garnering an 8.1 from Pitchfork, their highest rated album on the site (I know P4k bad, just using this as an example).^\5]) The album eventually settled at a 76/100 on Metacritic, lower than WPSIATWIN, FWN, and AM, but higher than Humbug and SIAS. Overall, the album's release was a success, becoming the band's 6th consecutive #1 in the UK.^\6]) Two days later on May 13th, the band released the music video for Four out of Five. The video definitely had the Kubrick-esque vibe the the teaser trailer did.
The album would go on to be nominated for two Grammy awards (Best Alternative Music Album and Best Rock Performance for Four Out of Five), a Mercury Prize (the band's fourth such nomination), and found itself on numerous end of the year lists, being named the best album by Q and the Observer, and found itself as the 14th overall album of the year on aggregate site "Album of the Year".^\7])
As divisive as this album was/is among fans, you gotta commend the band for simply putting this out. They successfully managed to subvert expectations and created something totally out of left field. The band were never ones to do the same thing twice, but few would've blamed them for going back in the studio to crank out AM 2, after the massive success of that record. Many lesser bands probably would have. Many lesser labels probably would've demanded it (shout out Domino). But no, they didn't, and I thank them for it. I thank them for creating one of my favorite albums of all time, and what I am sure will cement the Alex Turner as one of the greatest songwriters of our generation, in time.

Sorry for the book, but thank you for reading. What's next for the boys? I know it's basically impossible and futile to predict where they're going to take their sound from here, but what would you like to hear from them on their next record. Let me know!

I’ve been into THBC for like 6 months now but it just hit me: does the red pulsing in the 4 Out of 5 and Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino music videos mean anything? any kind of deeper meaning?

It's been a while since the Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino Music video came out, and i remember seeing rumors about what would the next clip be (Batphone, Science Fiction, etc i don't remember well) , same for when Alex Turner shaved his head (rip pls grow it back alexander) there was rumors about what would the next clip be and all.
Now it's december, 4-5 months since the last clip and well there's nothing.. We got Warp Speed Chic (which is so awesome and actually made me look back on TBH+C after my disappointed first listen, and my god i don't regret coming back),
but I'd love some more TBHC clip, i'm in love with the retro-futuristic ambiance and atmosphere of the album and the Four out of Five clip is gold gold gold and I want to see more!
Wanted to know if you think there's any chance there's more coming? Or if there's any info on that I'm vert curious

UPDATE: Holy shit, the M-Hole just changed my life forever. It lasted like at least 6hrs + a come down. I wasn't in the hole the entire time but whenever i would just lay on my back in bed then close my eyes -I was at peace and It was like I was watching a Clams Casino music video. Just seeing the most vivid CEVs I have ever experienced in my life. It felt like I was just in tranquility.
Amazing experience. Needed it. Worth it for sure. 62mg was very strong like it was lasting so long I almost wanted it to stop.
That is probably why I like 3-HO-PCP because it is like a 3-4hr duration opposed to MXE's 4-6hr+ duration.

Never posted here before. But, not sure where else I could post this. Just saw them release videos of the person who robbed the Bellagio. They have quite a bit of footage. But, there’s absolutely nothing of Stephen Paddock anywhere? I don’t fucking understand.
